Taylor Swift Accepts Billboard’s Woman of the Year Honor
Dazzling in a red dress, the ‘Back to December’ hitmaker receives the award at an event taking place at Capitale in New York City.Taylor Swift was named 2011 Billboard’s Woman of the Year at the Women in Music Awards, and she received the award on December 2 in New York City. Wearing her hair down with bangs, she donned a red Oscar de la Renta dress and finished off her look with tanned Prada pumps, and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.
In her acceptance speech, Taylor recalled her journey when she convinced her parents to move from Pennsylvania to Nashville in order to pursue her dreams. The country singer also remembered reading Billboard, “I would go through every single page and every single chart and just daydream about what it would be like to see my name in there someday.”
Being where she’s now, Taylor said she couldn’t be more grateful. The 21-year-old singer, who voices Audrey in “The Lorax”, said, “And today I walked in to flashing camera bulbs and all these important people in music.” She additionally said, “And I thought, I guess that’s what it looks like.”
During the event which also honored Nicki Minaj as Rising Star, Taylor had an after-lunch interview with ABC’s journalist Katie Couric. When being asked who inspired her, the country singer said, “My biggest role model were Shania Twain, Faith Hill, and Dixie Chicks.”
Taylor additionally mentioned about wanting to do movies, explaining, “I want to surprise people in good ways. My favorite moments in my favorite artists’ careers are when they make a departure. I want my writing to evolve, and I want to collaborate with other artists and continue to make music that I’m proud of.”

In the clip, she plays a girl whose day at the office doesn’t go well. By the end of the clip, she finally meets a special someone that she’s been eagerly waiting for all day long.
