Helen Mirren is going to be on Glee… kinda.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that, sooner or later, every celebrity in the world is going to end up on Glee. In keeping with this truism, the Oscar winner is the latest star tipped for a guest arc on the musical-comedy.

Helen’s appearance will be a bit different to all Glee’s other celebrity appearances: She’ll only lend her voice to the show, but won’t appear on camera.

According to TV Line, Helen “provides the ‘inner voice’” of one of Glee’s characters, though exactly who that character is won’t be revealed till the episode airs on Jan. 17.

PopCrunch’s official guess: it’ll be Lord Tubbington, the cat owned by Heather Morris’s adorable dimwit cheerleader Brittany.

The role was written specifically for Helen. She was talked into it by Eric Stoltz. The actor, who’s directed several episodes of Glee, co-starred with Helen in the 2007 drama The Passion Of Ayn Rand.
