Speaking of her future on the hit series, the Mercedes Jones depicter positively points out, ‘When it’s time to go, it’s time to go and, hopefully, there are greater things on the horizon.’Amber Riley might also graduate from McKinley High at the end of season 3 on “Glee”. The actress who plays Mercedes Jones on the FOX’s hit series told E! News recently that next season could be her last like it would be for fellow cast mates Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith.
Believing anything could happen on season 3, the 25-year-old said, “I may not be coming back for a fourth season. Who knows?” She positively added, however, “Whatever happens this third season is what happens, and I think everybody’s OK with it…I love my job to pieces, but when it’s time to go, it’s time to go and, hopefully, there are greater things on the horizon.”
On how she found out about the graduation scenario, Amber said, “I found out about it like everybody else did, on the Internet.” She went on to say, “But it’s something that’s not that surprising to us, and I think it’s just more surprising to others. People think it’s such a scandal when, really, it’s not. I think it’s smart to have new students come in… and I’m really excited.”
A few days earlier, it was confirmed that Lea, Chris and Cory will not be back for season 4. Series creator Ryan Murphy explained, “You can keep them on the show for six years and people will criticize you for not being realistic, or you can be really true to life and say when they started the show they were very clearly sophomores and they should graduate at the end of their senior year.”
Earlier this July, it was also revealed that Chord Overstreet has not been picked up to be full-time series regulars for season 3, but might be back occasionally as a guest. The Sam Evans depicter himself has taken to Twitter to share his thought on the matter. He wrote, “It’s been a good year. Too bad it’s over. Time for summer and starting fresh.”
