Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson Among 2012 MTV Movie Awards Nominees

In addition to being nominated for Best Female and Male Performance respectively, Jennifer and Josh are set to compete with Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in the Best Kiss category.Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are among the shining names in the 21st Annual MTV Movie Awards nomination list announced on Monday, April 30. Their blockbuster movie, “The Hunger Games”, also leads the pack by grabbing eight nods.
Jennifer is vying for the Best Female Performance. The Katniss Everdeen depicter is set to compete with such actresses as Kristen Wiig (“Bridesmaids”), Emma Stone (“Crazy, Stupid, Love.”), Emma Watson (“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II”), and Rooney Mara (“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (2011)”).
Josh, on the other hand, gets nominated for Best Male Performance. The actor playing Peeta Mellark will be up against the likes of Daniel Radcliffe (“Deathly Hallows II”), Ryan Gosling (“Drive”), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (“50/50″), and Channing Tatum (“The Vow”).
Additionally, Jennifer and Josh have the chance to take home the Best Kiss trophy. The two are listed in the category against couples from other big films, including Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart from “The Twilight Saga’s Breaking Dawn Part I”.
As for “The Hunger Games”, the successful novel-adapted movie is nominated for Movie of the Year. Also included in the top category are such blockbuster movies as “Bridesmaids”, “Deathly Hallows II”, “The Help” and “Breaking Dawn Part I”.
The 2012 MTV Movie Awards will be held on June 3 at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City. Online fan vote will open starting Tuesday at 8 A.M. ET. The nominees themselves were selected by a panel of actors, producers, agents and industry tastemakers. This year, there are six new categories up for grab, including “Best On-Screen Dirtbag” and “Best Gut-Wrenching Performance.”
