Andrew Garfield on Starting a Family: ‘I’d Love to Be a Dad!’

Though hoping to have a family with the woman he loves, the ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ actor who dates his co-star Emma Stone notes, ‘I want to be sure of what my value system is before that happens.’Andrew Garfield admits that he would like to settle down with the woman he loves someday. The Los Angeles-born heartthrob who’s currently dating Emma Stone opens up that he looks forward to the day when he finally starts a family.
In a cover story interview for the latest issue of U.K.’s GQ magazine, the 28-year-old hunk shares, “I’d love to be a dad! I’d love to.” The actor, however, notes that he wants to make sure that he’s good enough before starting his own family, stating, “I want to be sure of what my value system is before that happens.”
Aside from talking about his wish to become a father, Andrew gushes about his experiences in working with some Hollywood hotties, including Carey Mulligan and his own girlfriend Emma. “I don’t have any idea how I’ve ended up with all these stunners!” he enthuses before laughing and saying, “It’s quite, ahem, humbling!”
Andrew additionally explains that he’s been striving to remain out of the public spotlight. He claims that he would “prefer not to engage with” being famous. Still, the actor of British descent admits that he often feels curious about rumors involving himself and wants to find out about them on the internet.
However, he jokes that his pet pooch always tries to hinder him from searching himself on Google. “[It was as if he was saying] ‘No! Don’t do it!’,” Andrew says of his mongrel terrier mix. “And I looked at him and said, ‘All right. You’re right.’ And I didn’t.”
Andrew has been in a relationship with Emma since they worked together for “The Amazing Spider-Man”, which will open in the U.S. on July 3. The two have reportedly moved in together in an apartment in New York City.
Back in April, a friend of the couple told Life & Style magazine that they “have a really nice apartment” in the Big Apple. They reportedly did all the decorating together. The source said that both Andrew and Emma “worked together on the style and enlisted an interior decorator to transform the space into the perfect love nest.”
