Demi Lovato on Her Future: ‘I Want to Be Married With Kids in 10 Years’
The ‘Skyscraper’ singer also opens up that it’s hard for her to find a perfect partner after getting out of rehab, explaining, ‘What’s more embarrassing is that his mom will already know my life.’Though she’s currently not dating anyone, Demi Lovato admits that she’s hoping to get married someday. However, the former “Sonny with a Chance” star reveals that she’s been facing some challenges in finding a right partner ever since she got out of rehab.
In an interview for the latest issue of Cosmopolitan Brazil, the former Disney darling shares, “It doesn’t really bother me that a guy will know about my past before we even go out.” She confesses, “What’s more embarrassing is that his mom will already know my life.”
Of how she sees her future, Demi says, “I want to be married with kids in 10 years.” She goes on describing her dream husband, “Just a guy who makes me laugh. Obviously, I have to be attracted to him, but a sense of humor really does it for me.”
The former girlfriend of Joe Jonas admits that there aren’t so many guys approaching her at the moment, stating, “I don’t have many deal breakers.” She adds, “I’ve done so much in my life, it doesn’t feel right to judge other people. Oh, I know one quality I won’t tolerate. I would never be with a guy who is controlling.”
Demi also opens up about her past when she was struggling to battle anorexia, bulimia, self-mutilation, depression and substance abuse. “I felt relieved when I found out. Like I’m not completely crazy; there’s a medical reason for all of it,” she says.
Recalling her three-month treatment in rehab, she shares, “It’s a daily thing; you don’t get time off from it.” She continues, “And if I feel like myself slipping back into old patterns, I have to ask others for help, which is hard for me to learn, because I really like doing everything on my own.”
