Meet the New Bond Girl & Bond Villian: Javier Bardem & Berenice Marlohe
007 Overload! The upcoming James Bond movie finally has its bad guy, Bond beauty, and an almost-confirmed new title.
And finally, the all-important Bond title. Previously known just as Bond 23, the new film is set to be called Skyfall, with producers having registered the web names JamesBond-Skyfall.com and Skyfallthefilm.com.
First: The bad guy. Javier Bardem, who won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his freakish killer Chigurh in 2007′s No Country for Old Men, has confirmed that he’ll play the villain in the 23rd Bond movie. Bardem himself broke the news on ABC’s Nightline this week.
“I’m very excited because my parents took me to watch the movies and I saw all of them. So to play that is going to be fun. They chose me to play this man, but I cannot give you many details.”
Second: Bond’s lady in question is set to be French actress Berenice Marlohe in her first English-speaking role. That’s right, it doesn’t take much talking to be a Bond girl!
Naomie Harris, who last appeared in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, has also been confirmed to play Miss Moneypenny, secretary to Bond’s boss M (played in recent films by Judi Dench). And of course, Daniel Craig will return as Bond following on from Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.
Look for Bond’s big return to theaters late next year.
