Chord Overstreet Close to Come Back as Sam Evans on ‘Glee’
After leaving the FOX hit show last July, Chord is reportedly in final negotiation to return to the series on a recurring basis.Chord Overstreet might return to “Glee”. After leaving the hit series last July, the 22-year-old blond actor is currently in final talks to come back to the show on a recurring basis. He will reportedly reprise his role as Sam Evans beginning from this season’s eighth episode, which is tentatively scheduled to air in early December.
“We missed Chord and Chord missed us. It’s a win-win,” a source close to the FOX hit series said to TVLine about the plan to have Chord back on the show. Another source additionally told E! News that Sam will come back for sectionals.
Chord, who is dating actress Emma Roberts, is currently busy recording his album, which was one of the reasons why he left the Emmy-winning show last July. At that time he said goodbye to the Gleeks on his Twitter, writing, “It’s been a good year. Too bad it’s over. Time for summer and starting fresh.”
Executive producer Brad Falchuck also said at San Diego Comic Con that he had invited Chord to appear on a recurring basis, but the actor turned down the offer. “We did invite him back for a portion of the season, to see if being a regular was a possibility. But he declined the offer, which we were really disappointed by,” said Brad.
“We wanted him back because we like Chord personally and had some good stories planned for him with Mercedes (Amber Riley),” the producer went on adding. “He decided he would have opportunities elsewhere that he would like to pursue, and we can’t force him to work, so we wished him well.”
